As I mentioned in my previous post, working on your grayscale values is probably the most important thing, especially when sketching out thumbnails that you can actually use as references for more polished work.  However, it can be a little frustrating to work with values if you don't have a solid idea of how to use dark and light colours.

So, I put together a little exercise file (PSD) called 'Thumbnails practice sheet' which I use to flush out ideas quickly and it is an awesome way to practice your values.
